3 Tips for Online Marketing for Your Local Business

Marketing online can be an overwhelming and scary task, especially if you are new to the internet marketing world and have no real experience trying to get your website ranked in the search engine. Here are three things that you can do to help your website gt ranked in the search engines for a keyword that will bring lucrative business to your website.

First of all, when trying to discover what keywords to market for, keep in mind the nature of your business. If you are a local business, servicing a local area, use keywords that will be relevant to the local area. For instance, if you are a house painter in Wooster Ohio, use keywords like “House Painter Wooster” or “Painter Wooster” instead of very broad keywords like “house painter”. You may look at a keyword and think well, “House painter” brings in 100,000 searches in Google per month when “house painter Wooster” only brings in 110. Shouldn’t I be going for the one with the most traffic?

In short – no. The first reason why not is because it will be easier to rank for the more targeted keywords (these are called long-tailed keywords) because there are fewer websites trying to rank for these. The second reason is because if you are painting houses in Wooster Ohio, you don’t WANT leads from Witchita Kansas. It will do your business no good. Its better to focus on keywords that indicate a buy-ready lead and a lead that you CAN service.

Once you have chosen a keyword to focus on for your campaign (and focus on only one at a time), you will need to write an article about that keyword, and then take that article (over 400 words) and “spin” the content. Spinning the article content means you take the content of your article and re-write it in a way that makes the article 50% different than the original, but is saying basically the same thing. You can re-arrange paragraphs, replace words with word that mean the same thing (like replacing “gigantic” with “huge” or “small” with “tiny”, etc). You will need to create about 10 different articles from your content and submit them to different article directories. Be sure to change the title of each one as well, but keep your keyword in the title for each one. Be sure to create a backlink to your site int he author or resource box that uses the keyword you are going for as anchor text. Legit Online Jobs will get you backlinks and improve your search engine placement.

The third tip for you is to create a social bookmarking campaign for your articles. Submit one article to one social bookmarking directory (like Delicious or Reddit), then submit each of the others to other social bookmarking directories. If your content is good – meaning it delivers value and is not sales-y then your content will be picked up by other bookmarkers on these websites and you will begin to get traffic through this venue.
