Employees Can Green Their Office

What is wrong with the employees taking the initiative to Green their office? Here are a few ideas and I know there are thousands of other ways to improve our environment for ourselves and our future generations.
Employees can use a refillable water container. Offices are major contributors to plastic water bottles ending up in landfills. If it is necessary to use bottles of water, then recycle. Ask for a water delivery service.
Did you know experts think that Styrofoam cups and containers will take as long as 100 years to decompose? Since the Styrofoam containers started in the 1950’s, I will not be here to see if this is true; but our children will be here and trying to clean up the mess. If you stop for a coffee, see if they will use a refillable coffee cup instead of the Styrofoam cup. If you have a coffee break room, then use biodegradable cups.
Unplug the cell phone charger when the charge is complete. The charger still uses a “ghost” of electricity while plugged into the outlet.
Recycle, Make sure paper, bottles, and cans are deposited in recycling bins in the office.
Reuse and reduce… If you print draft copies or too many copies, then use the paper for scrap notes. There are so many ways to reuse items.
Carpool to work. Employees can start they own program to save money for themselves and to help the environment.
Turn off your office light when you are leaving. Start to make this your habit even at home.
Walk the stairs. I know this is not a Green Thing, but it is a benefit to you. Well, maybe it saves in the elevator operating costs. I have to think about this one.
Good luck is making your own going green ideas and implementing the good ones in your office.
